Bees

Yesterday a bee swarm came to our house and attached itself to our tree in the back yard. Here is a picture of part of it, if you look closely you can see a bee flying away.

Resurrection Sunday

He is risen, (He is risen indeed).
Take some time today to reflect on what Christ did for you but don't forget that He didn't stay dead! He is alive and moving!

Happy Resurrection Sunday,

Well, it’s the beginning of another week. That is exciting to think about isn’t it? Think about it, you have no idea what is going to happen next, a great tragedy could happen that will change your life forever or there could be an unexpected but good change in your life. God has given us a living novel that is just as exciting (if not more exciting) as a non-living novel. Though sometimes your life can seem boring it’s never boring to imagine what might happen next, just like in a book; if you are bored with a book and you don’t know what will happen next, even if what happens next isn’t very exciting it is exciting to imagine what will happen next. Imaginations are one of the coolest things Out of God’s creation aren’t they? Colossians 1:15-17 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 says “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.” Something will happen eventually whether you want it to or not.

Have a great and exciting week,

Well, everybody is officially at school, and I am officially the only kid living at home again. It’s sad but I know I will see them in the summer; Hazel is probably the one that I miss most often, she is constantly around me when she is home, because we share a room. I haven’t been doing much as ya’ll know, but last night I took this awesome picture while doing the dishes. : )
I think that is the first picture that I have put on this blog that was taken with my new camera. I would take pictures more often, but honestly I don’t have the time to because of school, and my parent’s and my crazy hectic life. : ) I have been reading through the Anne of Green Gables series for the thousandth time. : ) If you are a girl and you have not read it before I strongly recommend it to you, it is very good. Next week my homeschool group is going on a field trip to a local observatory; it should be a lot of fun. The last time our homeschool group went there I was sick so I couldn’t go. It is interesting when my siblings leave; because when they are home and I do something it is usually with them and thefriends,so I don’t do much when they are gone.

The verse of the day is Luke 4:8 “Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’ ”
The random historical fact of the day is: on January 23, 1849, Elizabeth Blackwell becomes the first woman doctor in the United States. She was granted her medical degree from Geneva Medical College (now Hobart College) in Geneva, New York.

The definition of the day is, sonsy, meaning: strong and healthy; robust,
or agreeable, and good-natured. I was reading Anne’s House of Dreams and it said that, I sort of knew what it meant, but not really so I looked it up. I like that word, its so clean cut, and sunshiny, and… sonsy! : )

Have a great day : )

Cookies

Hi,
Yikes I haven’t written on here for some time. Sorry about that. It is hard to find time to do this part of my school and also to find time that my proofreader can proofread these posts. Well, nothing much has been happening lately at all, so I will try to come up with something else to write. These cookies look really good and I want to make them a lot but I can’t convince my mom to buy the Oreos needed to make them, she said it’s like putting a cookie inside of a cookie : ), but that’s the whole point.

Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 sticks (1 cup) softened butter
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon pure vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
10 oz bag chocolate chips
1 pkg. Oreo cookies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Cream butter and sugars together with a mixer until well combined.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.
In a separate bowl mix the flour, salt and baking soda.  Slowly add to wet ingredients along with chocolate chips until just combined.  Using a cookie scoop take one scoop of cookie dough and place on top of an Oreo Cookie.  Take another scoop of dough and place on bottom of Oreo cookie.  Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand until Oreo cookie is enclosed with dough.  Place onto a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet and bake cookies 9-13 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

Makes about 2 dozen VERY LARGE cookies.

One of you guys should make them and tell me how they are : )

I started school full on today, which means I have to do everything, including a study guide and a test in science. I do not really like science this year and I am not doing very well at it but I think most of that is my fault. I do vocabulary as well, that is not too bad when I am not doing redo’s but today unfortunately I was. I also do Pre-algebra, I am supposed to be in algebra 1 this year, but because I did horribly at it last year my parents are making me redo it this year. This year it is going a lot better and I am getting a lot better grades in it. Yesterday we took down all our Christmas decorations, that is kind of sad but it is also happy because it means that we have a whole new year to look forward to and discover things in.

The verse of the day is Ezekiel 36:26-27 “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.”

The random historical fact of the day is: on January 3, 1777, The Battle of Princeton took place in the War of Independence. George Washington defeated the British forces, led by Cornwallis.

The Beautiful Letdown

It was a beautiful letdown, when I Crashed and burned
When I found myself alone, unknown and hurt
It was a beautiful letdown
The day I knew,
That all the riches this world had to offer me
Would never do
(Switchfoot, The Beautiful Letdown)
I was listening to this song yesterday with my two sisters, and I was just sitting there singing along, when the depth behind the song just hit me. I had heard it, I don’t know how many times before, but I just didn’t realize what the words meant until yesterday. It is about how, when you are a Christian you don’t belong in the world, you belong in Heaven and no matter how much you try; the world is always going to let you down. It is a letdown, but it is a beautiful thing to realize. If you haven’t heard this song look it up and listen to it, it has Amazing lyrics.

Happy New Year!

Today I started school. : (  It is not so bad though because the only things I have to do today are, this blog and a website called Kahn Academy, a free website that lets you watch a bunch of educational videos and do exercises. It is a pain in the neck because it makes you get 10 in a row right before you can move on, and if you get one wrong you start all over again. My parents like it a lot though so they make me do it every school day. This Christmas, among other things, I got a camera from my Grandma, thanks Grandma. From now on most of the pictures on my blog will be taken with my camera. Here is a picture of it.

I also got 3 new books that I have already finished, they are: The New Adventures of the Mad Scientists Club, The Big Chunk of Ice, and The Phantom Tollbooth. They were all very good. I also got a craft book that shows you how to make awesome glossy bracelets.

The verse of the day is Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds, and praise your Father who is in heaven.”  NIV

The random historical fact of the day is, January 2, 1879; Thomas Edison began construction on his first generator. Isn’t that awesome? Most likely if he had not built that first generator we would not have electricity in our homes.

I have talked to my Dad about fixing the comments so that people other than the ones that are members of my blog can comment, we are working on it, sorry about that.
